Fleur-De-Lys AFC was established by Jason Needs in 2000 consisting of one mini football team with just a handful of players. Originally based at Trelyn Park the club moved to its current home The Ynys in 2002.
Steadily but surely over the past few years the club has grown with mini and youth teams from Under 7’s to under 18’s and a senior team providing football opportunities for over 100 boys, girls and adults; and has become a name synonymous with good football and fair play.
In addition to our regular games and coaching in the season the club is dedicated to developing the players skills and experience by entering football festivals and tournaments both locally and outside Wales. Across the age ranges our players have the opportunity to play against a variety of teams they don’t normally play against. This has proved very successful and a great opportunity for the club to make new friends from near and far.
On our tour to Southport to celebrate the clubs 10th anniversary we were the club that made the biggest impression whether it was the playing or supporting. We won 2 Fair Play awards and stole the show on presentation night with all the 80+ plus tour party together wearing club shirts.
As members of the Clubs for Young People (CYP) Wales (formerly Boys and Girls Clubs of Wales), we provide our club members with the opportunity to take part in a variety of sporting activities (not just football), competitions and opportunities to compete at county and national level.
To ensure the continuous growth of the club, a dedicated committee and volunteering section has been established allowing the club to flourish both on and off the field. The club at present is working towards ground improvements to ensure that the facilities on offer match the potential and enthusiasm of all involved. Of course we are always on the look out for willing volunteers and sponsors to help progress the club.
Below is a photo taken of the initial team in 2000 wearing their new football kit, with thanks from TMS Greenwood Limited for their sponsorship. The initial kit colours comprised of a blue and white stripes before changing to current club colours of black and white striped kit.
To the right is the Southport Tour celebrating our our 10 year anniversary.
Finally it is of paramount importance to the club that all visitors are given a
warm welcome and enjoy their visit to Fleur-De-Lys AFC, regardless of the result.
